When the Central Jail in Ahmedabad started producing snacks like bhujia, shing chana, chavanu, and more — it wasn’t just about food. It was about dignity, rehabilitation, and reintegration. Herumb was proud to lead the packaging design for over 20 products — helping these inmate-made goods stand shoulder-to-shoulder with top FMCG brands on retail shelves.
From spicy foolwadi to classic chavanu, we designed retail-ready packaging for a wide range of namkeen snacks. Each pack was crafted with clear communication, visual appeal, and high recall in mind — suitable for supermarkets, stalls, and government-backed retail outlets.
We created a unified visual system across all SKUs — using vibrant colors, clean iconography, and crisp typography — ensuring the products felt approachable, hygienic, and high quality.
This wasn’t just about aesthetics. Our work helped build trust and perception for a government initiative that supports skill development and rehabilitation — helping inmates contribute to society while learning real-world production and packaging processes.
Design can change perception — and even lives. These packs weren’t just wrappers for snacks. They were the start of a new chapter for the people who made them.
